Apple lists the Grand Highlander by year range, so the year of your car is the first thing to check. A 2023 Toyota Grand Highlander is not on the list; the Grand Highlander first appears for 2024. "Not on Apple's list" is not the same as "cannot have CarPlay": a dealer software update or an aftermarket head unit can add it to an older car, and Apple's list would not show that. It means only that Apple does not list a factory CarPlay option for the Grand Highlander in that year.

Apple's own footnote is the caveat that applies here: CarPlay "is either standard or available as an option," and "some models may support CarPlay or car keys only in certain configurations."
